Why this blog?

About mid 2008 one of my student's parents convinced me to begin training and run a half-marathon.  It didn't take too much convincing....however, I am NOT a runner.

I created this blog to help keep me motivated as the half-marathon date crept closer and closer.  The training was hard work...but I kept at it.

I have run two half-marathons, and several shorter distance runs since then.

However, over the last twelve months I have lost all desire to run any more major runs.  But I would like to carry on with this blog.  So from now on, this blog will record a combination of my fitness progress, books I have read, current affairs and opinions.
