Back PAIN!!!

It has been two weeks since I have started my running training. This has consisted of a weekly run of 5km with a group of friends, plus a few smaller (much smaller!) runs during the rest of the week. Each run has been a struggle, but I feel that I am improving (which means I feel like I can run a bit longer before needing to stop, recovering faster after the run, and I haven't yet lost all desire to run again...yet).

I had better explain that at this point of time...my running is actually very slow jogging. People could probably walk beside me and still keep up. But....this will improve...yes it will!

Over the last two weeks (since taking up running...coincidence?) I have been experiencing rather awful back pain. So much so, that I went to the doctor thinking I had a kidney infection, but blood and urine tests came back very normal. I am now taking codeine and ibuprofen tablets when I am in pain. Which is a short term solution, really. I should visit a physio and purchase some running shoes (I am currently alternating between two pairs of cross-trainers).
