Tai Tapu 15km Run

Well, I am home from my run this morning and feeling rather lethargic and tired.

I met Kristie, Bridget, Jacqui and Rachelle out at Tai Tapu about 9ish (where we were greeted with very cold weather - 2 degrees). The run started at 10 am. Kristie and I made sure we were right at the start line (anything to shave off a couple of minutes from our time) and boy! Did we feel out of place??? Everyone around us were adorned in spandex/lycra etc and looked as if they were current/ex olympic athletes...

Anyway, the starting horn went off and Kristie and I began our 'jog' (everyone one else sprinted off ahead). I managed to stay with a large group of runners for a bit, then started to slow down. Kristie passed me at some stage, but I stayed within sight. Bridget, Jacqui and Rachelle also ran past (which I knew they would at some stage). It is a beautiful area to run, and the weather warmed up. I found the overall run quite tough...but am glad I completed it. I had set myself the goal of finishing before 1 hour and 45 minutes, which I did. I actually managed to do 1 hour, 41 minutes and 44 seconds - so am very pleased. Better yet...I was not last!!! There were still plenty of people to finish after me!

I then headed to the Pioneer Stadium for a soak in a spa pool...mmmm bliss!

Anyway, I have plenty of work to do before the SBS Half-Marathon...28 days left!

Here is the map of today's run for those interested...I think the picture enlarges if you click on it.

WOW!!!

I had no idea you were in training! Way to go! I have had similar aspirations in the past, but the ol' bod isn't up to such thing any more (if it ever was)and it is so great to read about your accomplishments!

Keep it up! I am totally hollering encouragement from afar!
