Photos

The photos are out on the SBS Marathon website! I am too cheap to pay for photo's (they're $30 each!!!) so here they are...just with a logo plastered over the top.

It is quite funny looking at the photo's for two reasons: 1) I look absolutely shattered in all of them, and 2) you can really see the funny running stance I have...it looks like I hunch my shoulders and only move my legs from the knees down (something to improve before the next half-marathon).
I have also included some pics of friends also running that day...hope they don't mind!

Here is Kristie - she is the one who got me into running two years ago! Thank you, Kristie! I really admire Kristie for her will-power (I have none) and her enthusiasm. This is Catherine - Catherine is a work colleague. She ran the full-marathon last year, half-marathon this year...but is running the Dunedin full-marathon later this year. Doesn't she just look like a runner? I want to run like her! Her time this year was a very impressive 1hr 52 mins - brilliant! This is David 1079 (a good friend of my brother, Bevan) who ran his first half-marathon this year...in an amazing 1hr 38mins...I think he should run the full-marathon next year. This is another friend of Bevan's, Sam (in fact both David and Sam were groomsmen for Bevan) who also ran his first half-marathon in a terrific 1 hr 48mins.This is Sam's wife, Lynne (on right) and her colleague, Kerry (who just happens to be a parent of one of my students this year...hello Emily!) running their first half-marathon...they got a remarkable time too (2hr 5mins).Looking at all these times, which were so much better than mine, has inspired me more. I want to complete a half-marathon with a time close to 2hrs. So I need someone to look at my running style, keep running, and find a running buddy (or join a running group). But I also have to remind myself...that I actually DID run the half-marathon (which is a fantastic effort, considering two years ago I struggled to run from power pole to power pole. Also, the slowest time this year was 4hr 31mins 42 secs...so I should be very pleased with my time of 2hr 26mins.

PS - I don't think I mentioned in my last post that I saw one lady running in bare feet, and two men running in sandals!!!

Long post today!
