Seeing it is the school holidays, I am staying with my folks in Waimate for a few days. Mum has her hand in plaster, so I am also helping out with some cooking and housework.
Anyway, on a Thursday night, Mum and Dad usually go to a step class together. As Mum was out of action, I decided to tag along with Dad for some exercise.
Waimate has a gym, but their is no room for gym classes (just weight machines etc), so the step class is held in the Waimate Main School hall. I'm not even sure if the step class is affiliated with the local gym...it sounds like a local lady (Alice) who happens to know a bit about 'step' and takes a class once a week.
So, 9 of us turned up and paid our $6 each, grabbed our 'new' steps and got ready to begin. But oops, Alice had forgotten to bring her cd's...never mind! While one of her kids was phoned and ordered to drive them into town...we got started...via music coming from the cd player from Alice's car!!! Alice just backed her car up nice and close to the school hall and turned the volume button up. Ahhh...the country life is grand eh?
All in all though...it was a very good class....we all got hot and sweaty...great community spirit - and had loads of fun! I will definitely go again if I'm in town on a Thursday night again.
Maybe I will start going to the gym again in Christchurch??? Maybe...
